Our Team

A team of former CHL leaders and current professional hockey players is committed to sharing the valuable knowledge they have gained. Looking back, the team recognizes that if they had known what they know now during their early teenage years (ages 10-16), their development plan would have been more technical and tactical, helping them make the jump to the next level.

Directors of Player Development

Colton Kammerer

Colton grew up in Whitby, Ontario, a passionate leader, playing all of his minor hockey for the Whitby Wildcats organization. At 15 years old, Colton was drafted by the Sarnia Sting 52nd overall and made the team as a 16-year-old. Colton was selected to represent Canada at the U17 World Championships in Dawson Creek, BC, where the team won a silver medal. He went on to play 189 OHL games between the Sting and the Hamilton Bulldogs. His junior highlights included being named to the OHL Academic Team in 2017, Captain of the Hamilton Bulldogs in 2021, and being voted best shot-blocker in the OHL East Coaches poll. Colton concluded his junior career by winning the OHL Championship with the Hamilton Bulldogs in 2022.

After his junior career, Colton joined the UNB Reds Men's Hockey team and is currently studying for his BBA degree. Once he has finished his BBA, Colton plans to complete his JD at UNB Law, hoping to use his knowledge in the hockey management industry. Colton and the Reds won the USports National Championship in 2023 and want continued team success at Nationals this year. During post-ACL surgery, Colton recognized his passion for player development and management and looks forward to pursuing this with Upfront Sports.

Kade Landry

Kade grew up in Gowanstown, Ontario. He played minor hockey for the Huron Perth Lakers, a small regional AAA organization in mid-western Ontario.

Kade was drafted in 2015 by the Barrie Colts in the 7th round of the Ontario Hockey League priority draft. He was the only player drafted from his Lakers team. That summer, he worked out with other Colt prospects under the guidance of Hall of Famer Dale Hawerchuk. This development opportunity provided confidence and at his first OHL training camp, he impressed enough to be offered an OHL contract.

After playing his first year of junior for the hometown Listowel Cyclones Jr B team, he joined Barrie in 2016 and soon became a regular defenseman. In 2017, Kade was traded to the Hamilton Bulldogs, and he won the OHL championship that season. In 2018, he was invited to the NY Rangers prospects camp. He finished his OHL career as one of the top 1999 born defensemen for points and games played.  After completing four full seasons in the OHL, he elected to obtain a University degree and joined the University of New Brunswick Reds under the guidance of legendary coach Gardiner MacDougall. In 3 years at UNB, Kade has played a significant role in helping the Reds capture AUS championships from 2022-24 and a National Championship in 2023.

Growing up in a small town with limited development opportunities and minimal exposure, Kade saw a flaw in his development path and the hockey industry in general. Upfront Sports was formed in 2023 through Kade’s wish that every player should have an equal opportunity to be: 1. Inspired by successful role models and their experiences.  2. Developed through 1 on 1 attention tailored to each player.  3.  Promoted and exposed to the entire hockey world. Kade’s passion and future plans are to expand Upfront Sports so every minor hockey player regardless of where they live in Canada have the opportunity to work with Upfront and reach their full potential.

Jason Willms

Jason grew up in Kitchener Ontario where he spent his entire minor hockey career playing for the Kitchener Jr. Rangers. At 16 years old, Jason was drafted in the 3rd round 43rd overall in the OHL draft to the Barrie Colts. After a year of development for the Junior B Kitchener Dutchmen he made the jump to the Colts where he spent the majority of his 4 year OHL career. Throughout his OHL career, he became 3rd all-time in OHL history for consecutive games played, playing in 264 games in a row. A career that saw him play 3 and a half years in Barrie before a trade deadline trade his final year to the London Knights. His highlights include being named captain of the Barrie Colts for 2019-2020, and OHL top faceoff man both 2018-2019 and 2019-2020, while establishing himself as one of the better 2 way forwards in the league.

Upon graduating the OHL, Jason committed to the University of New Brunswick to pursue a business degree while playing for the men's hockey team. He is a 2023 BBA graduate from UNB, as well as a 4 time academic all Canadian. He is currently a master's student, researching how technology can be implemented into hockey to improve player development. On the ice, he has captained the team from 2022-2024, where he was able to lead them to a National Title in 2023 and a perfect 43-0 season on route to another National title in 2024. He is passionate about giving back to the next generation of players and hopes to inspire many more with the lessons he's learned throughout his playing career. Jason is currently pursuing professional hockey for the Toledo Walleye.  He remains very involved in Upfront Sports and is excited about sharing how his hockey journey of striving to reach his full potential can help young athletes work towards achieving their full potential.
